UNISON, the main sponsor of this year’s Merthyr Rising event, is proud to announce that UNISON’s Assistant General Secretary, Roger McKenzie, will be attending the event and will be speaking at the events opening night on the 26th May at the Red House Merthyr Tydfil.
Mike Crimmings of UNISON said “This is fantastic news for Merthyr and UNISON, he is a great orator and I am sure all who are there on the night will be truly inspired”
Merthyr Rising will take place between 22nd and 28th May 2017, with the main focus being three days of music, politics, art and culture over the weekend of 26th to 28th May.
The weekend promises to be bigger and better than last year, with The Alabama Three and the Stereo MCs headlining. The full line up is not yet finalised but most of the bands have been confirmed and the programme of speakers is already looking exciting. For details and updates, go to Merthyr Rising Website
Tickets are on sale at £20 for the whole festival – there will be a limited number of tickets made available for free to members of Cwm Taf Local Government UNISON, details of how they will be allocated will be announced shortly.
